Christine Clayton

I am a designer and this is my collection of photos, quotes and other miscellany.

spring fever

Sweet geeze-us, the weather in NYC was beautiful today. Weather like this inspires a certain degree of creative energy. I am fully returning to visions of restoration of a quarter-sawn 1930’s bow front dresser I bought late last summer.

I started the sanding in the sweat-heavy month of August, carefully hand sanding each drawer on my fire escape. As quickly as the heat of August came, the fickle cold/wet of early fall creeped in and I realized my project would have to wait until spring.

So here I am. 65 degrees today, returning to my point of inspiration. Having read the blog entry on Design Sponge early last summer (favorite blog of all), I have hopes of creating something equally as gorgeous.

Haute Taxidermy

polly morgan

So taxidermy is definitely not a new thing but these works by Polly Morgan capture the mystery and beauty of death in a way that elevates these pieces to works of art. “Polly Morgan—she’s a trained taxidermist, who creates fantastical, surreal and darkly humorous sculptures out of creatures she finds dead from accidental or natural causes.”
